Cuba overflight permit

Expert Cuba Overflight Permit Solutions

Cuba’s complex overflight permit requirements for private and charter flights demand precision and speed. As the only provider securing fast permits, Asmcorp’s Latin America specialists efficiently handle all details, ensuring compliance with evolving regulations

Cuba requires overflight permits for private non-revenue and charter flights utilizing airways or routes traversing the Cuban Flight Information Region (FIR), even if not directly overflying Cuban territory. Permits are valid for the requested Zulu day plus an additional 24 hours, providing a two-day window with no crossing time restrictions.

Permits can be one-way or round-trip, with round-trip permits valid for flights within 7 days of each other.

As of July 2020, Cuba discontinued free overflight permits for light aircraft, requiring permit fees and navigation (NAV) fees for all flights.

Overwater airways in the northwest corner of Cuban airspace, classified as oceanic airways, do not require overflight permits.

Standard processing requires 48 hours, but short-notice permits may be available on the same day for urgent needs.

U.S.-registered private aircraft are no longer eligible for the AVS license exception and require a Temporary Sojourn license for Cuban operations, adding complexity for U.S. operators.

CENAMER Overflight

CENAMER Overflight and Permit Requirements

The CENAMER Flight Information Region, managed by COCESNA (Central American Corporation for Air Navigation Services), covers Central American airspace, including Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Belize, and parts of El Salvador and Costa Rica.

Most CENAMER countries (Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua) require overflight permits for private and charter flights, except for El Salvador and Costa Rica in certain cases (e.g., oceanic routes or specific operations). Permits typically require details like aircraft registration, flight itinerary, and passenger information.

Applications are often submitted via AMHS (Aeronautical Message Handling System) to specific CENAMER addresses (e.g., MHTGYGYX, MHCCYSYX). Standard processing takes 48 hours, though urgent permits may be expedited.

Common requirements include Air Operating Certificate, Certificate of Airworthiness, Insurance Certificate, Noise Certificate, and Registration Certificate. Passenger flights may need additional passenger details.

Standard processing requires 48 hours, but short-notice permits may be available on the same day for urgent needs.

Nicaragua requires permits only for flights over its landmass, not oceanic routes. Guatemala mandates a complete flight schedule and ATC flight plan.

Operators may need to contact the CENAMER Operational Supervisor (ACC/FIC) for coordination.

APIS MEXICO

Expert APIS filing, simplified

Mexico’s intricate APIS requirements for private and charter flights demand precise passenger and crew data submissions, often entangled in complex bureaucracy. Asmcorp takes the guessing out of this process, delivering expert filing ensuring compliance with evolving regulations

Mexico requires APIS submissions for all private and charter flights arriving in or departing from the country, involving detailed passenger and crew manifest data submitted electronically to Mexican authorities.

APIS must be submitted exactly 24 hours before departure for outbound flights, with additional submissions required for round-trip flights (e.g., four submissions for a U.S.-Mexico round trip).

Mexico has relaxed some APIS requirements, allowing operators to file directly in certain cases, though professional assistance like Asmcorp’s ensures accuracy and efficiency.

Failure to comply with APIS requirements can result in delays, fines, or denied entry. A noise certificate may also be required for landing permits, which can intersect with APIS processes.

While U.S. CBP requires APIS for flights to/from the U.S., Mexico’s APIS is a separate requirement, and overflights without landing in Mexico typically do not require APIS submissions.
